Al
Habtoor Motors, the sole distributor of Aston Martin
cars in the UAE, is proud to announce the opening of its
exclusive showroom for Aston Martin cars opposite to its
Mitsubishi showroom in Deira, which was inaugurated by
Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group, on
26th April 2004. The new showroom has at the display for
the first time in the UAE the new top models of Aston
Martin - the Vanquish and the all-new DB9.
Aston Martin cars are
thoroughbred luxury sports cars with superior levels of
comfort and refinement. Each car reflects unique Aston
Martin characteristics that are borne out of
craftsmanship and use of the finest technology and
quality materials.
The new Aston Martin DB 9:
A Striking Balance
The all-new 2004 Aston
Martin DB9 Coupe is a luxury sports car with GT levels
of comfort and cruising ability. It is the first car to
be hand-made at Aston Martin's new state-of-the-art
facility, where all future Aston Martin models will be
built. Developed, using the most sophisticated
technology, the DB9 is equipped in true Aston Martin
tradition.
Engine & Performance
An all-alloy quad overhead
cam 48-valve 6.0-litre (5935 cc) V12 engine with a
compression ratio of 10:3:1, powers the new DB9. The
Visteon engine management controls fuel, injection,
ignition, diagnostics and misfire detection system. The
DB9 gives a maximum of 450 horsepower at 6000 rpm and a
maximum torque of 570 Nm (420 lb.ft) at 5000 rpm. The
new DB9 accelerates to a top speed of 300 kilometers per
hour and 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds (manual) and 4.9
seconds (automatic).
Interiors & Exteriors
The designers of the DB9
balanced beauty and performance, giving it superb
styling, high-speed stability and great front-to-rear
balance. Characterized by its pronounced boot, wide and
curvaceous haunches on the rear wings, side strakes made
from metal, the DB9's side profile is very clean with a
single-sweep roofline. The door handles are flush with
the body opening the unique 'swan wing' doors, which
rise at a 12-degree angle for improved access. There are
no visible gutters on the roof panel, and no visible
drain channels at the front or rear windscreens, nor are
there any plastic dressing plates.
The luxurious cabin is
crafted with Bridge of Weir leather and is available in
attractive optional colours. The hides are particularly
soft and supple. The leather covers the seats and is
used widely throughout the rest of the cabin. The use of
wood is restricted to two places only: on top of the
centre of the dashboard and if the customer chooses, for
the door caps also. Aluminium is used for door handles,
on the dashboard, in the instrument cluster, and for
some trim panels. The dials are also made from aluminium
in a 'three dimensional' design. They are floodlit
making them especially attractive and clear at night.
Among the many technical
firsts of the new DB9 is the 'message centre' in its
dashboard. It's an Organic Electro Luminescent display (OEL)
unlike the common LCD. Seats are electronically
controlled to include height adjustments with optional
seat heaters. It has a Linn stereo entertainment system
with 6-CD auto-changers available in three options. And
last but not the least, the first point of contact
between driver and engine - the starter switch, is a
crystal-like glass button with sand etched Aston Martin
logo in place of the usual plastic button.
V12 Vanquish: Redefines super cars for the 21st century
Embracing the unique
leading edge technologies with traditional skills, the
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is a true super car. No better
phrase sums up the car as the word 'Vanquish' which
according to the Oxford English Dictionary means, 'to
reduce to submission by superior force', in other words
to conquer, overpower or overwhelm.
Engine & Performance
The hand built 6.0-litre
(5,935 cc) all alloy 48 valve V12 engine drives through
a
6-speed manual transmission operated by Formula One
style automated paddle shifts. The aluminium and carbon
fibre technology employed in the structure of V12 is a
world first for Aston Martin. It gives a maximum of 460
horsepower (343 kW) at 6,800 rpm and a maximum torque of
542 Nm (400 lb.ft) at 5,500 rpm. The Vanquish
accelerates to a top speed of 306 kilometers per hour
(190 mph) and 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds.
Interiors & Exteriors
Whilst other road users
enjoy the external beauty of V12 Vanquish, both driver
and passengers will be equally enamored by the interior,
a stunning blend of future and tradition. Dominating the
cabin and echoing the car's construction is the cast
aluminium center console that arches from the top of the
facia down to the transmission tunnel.
Owners may specify their
own finish for this special casting, leaving it
aluminium or matching it to the car's body colour. Door
pulls, grab handles and gearshift paddles are also cast
aluminium. Other interior cues, such as Bridge of Weir
leather, quilted Alcantrara and Wilton carpet, echo
Aston Martin heritage. So does the black-on-cream
instrumentation, with numerals changing to a soothing
blue at night.
Owners have the choice of
two interior configurations: a 2+2 with rear seats or a
pure two-seater with a rear shelf to accommodate a golf
bag or personal luggage items. As with all Aston
Martins, customers are free to select whichever colours
they choose either from Aston Martin's extensive
palette, or their own imagination and taste.
