Metropolitan Hotels International held a cocktail reception at teh Grand Hyatt Hotel, Amman on the 25th of  August 2001. The group officially announced the opening of teh Metropolitan Palace Hotel , Beirut and introduce the new property in Jordan. the event was a big success attented by 200 guest from the different sectors of the government in Jordan,

The Grand Raffle Draw of teh Metropolitan Hotels summer promotion took place during the press conference. Mr. Rahim Abu Omar announced the lucky winner, Captian George Doutis from Galaxy Shipping Agancy, who won 2 return tickets to Beirut to join the grand opening celebration of the Metropolitan Palace Hotel, Beirut on the 18th of October 2001, as a special guest for 3 days.

During the soft opening of Metropolitan Palace Hotel in Beirut, Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor is joined by the senior Engineering team, that supervised teh construction of the project as well as Mr. Mohammed Al Habtoor, Sultan Al Habtoor and Mr. Heinz Sedlecek,
