Top Doctor and Nobel Author to Receive Prestigious Award

	Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, has donated US$ 50,000 towards prizes for the first Arab Medical and Cultural Award, instituted by the Houston Chapter of the Arab American Medical Association, Texas, USA. The recipients of the awards were announced at a Press conference at the Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai. The winners are Dr. Dawood Hannania, a cardio-vascular surgeon from Jordan and Najib Mahfooz, the notable Egyptian novelist and 1988 Nobel Peace Prize winner. The winners will receive their prizes at a ceremonyin Houston on 21 March.
	An international accounting standards workshop was held at the Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai in December. The Workshop, opened by Khalaf Al habtoor and Talal Abu Ghazaleh, was attended by finance managers from all divisions of the Al Habtoor Group.
