Khalaf Al Habtoor welcomed a delegation from the American University in Cairo (AUC), including Thomas Thomason, the interim President (AUC) at the Al Habtoor Group head office on 10 April 2016.
They briefed Al Habtoor on the status of an AUC scholarship programme, sponsored by the Chairman, that aims to give 10 impoverish students from across Egypt the opportunity to receive a higher education at the respected institution. Thomason said AUC has received many applications. The successful applicants will be selected once the outcome of their current education results are released later in the year. Al Habtoor, a long-term supporter of AUC previously donated $5 million to finance the Al Habtoor Football and Track Stadium, an Olympic-standard facility boasting a full football field and a 400 metre, 10 lane track.
