by The Media Office

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group welcomed the President of the Middle East Policy Council (MEPC) Hon. Ford Fraker at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Fraker, who served as the US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 2007-2009, was introduced to the Chairman by Thomas Mattair, Executive Director of the MEPC.

They discussed the current political and economic climate in the region, and discussed Al Habtoor’s keynote address at the 24th Annual Arab-US Policymakers’ Conference in Washington DC last month which focused on issues impacting the Middle East including the escalating crisis in Syria and his concerns over Palestine and Iran.

Al Habtoor said, “It was a pleasure to meet for former US Ambassador. He has extensive knowledge of our region. It is very important that people with first-hand experience of the Middle East report back to Washington, but we as Arabs, have to play our part and relay the messages to the West in person. ”Al Habtoor said he has published articles for many years on regional issues, and he hopes the US Administration and policymakers read them.

The MEPC is a nonprofit organisation whose mission is to contribute to American understanding of the political, economic and cultural issues that affect US interests in the Middle East.
