The legacy has a new address

by Joanna Andrews

The St. Regis Dubai is open for business at Al Habtoor City. As soon you step inside this spectacular hotel you feel like you have gone back in time to the New York Gilded Age - the days of unparalleled extravagance and exclusivity. The hotel has a good mix of French-style Beaux-Art architecture blended with neo classical contemporary interiors. Joanna Andrews gives you a look inside the luxury five-star hotel in the highly-anticipated Al Habtoor City in the new heart of Dubai.

This unique hotel is the epitome of high-end luxury. Even the aristocracy of the early 1900s in New York would be impressed. The moment you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by impeccably dressed doormen. Butlers are on hand for your every whim. Once inside the breathtaking lobby, you can’t help but stop to admire the imposing majestic grand double staircase twinkling with lights reflecting off the dazzling overhead chandelier, which is made up of 1,200 pieces of hand-cut crystals.

Other special features are clearly visible throughout this upmarket hotel, like a stunning Bentley-inspired mural at the St. Regis Bar.

The St. Regis Dubai features 234 luxury guestrooms, including 52 suites, each offering a bright, airy ambience with impeccable details such as chandeliers, marble bathrooms and signature St. Regis beds. Spanning 913sqm, the three-bedroom, two-story Royal Suite is located in the central dome of the building, featuring a rooftop plunge pool, vast living room with an elegant dining room, study, lounge area and spacious majlis.

The hotel’s custom-designed one bedroom Bentley Suite is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Inspired by the bespoke craftsmanship of the Bentley Mulsanne, it offers the ultimate expression of luxury; the leather finishes, colours, patterns and wood veneers combine the glamour of Bentley with the impeccable elegance of The St. Regis brand.

Owned by Al Habtoor Group, The St. Regis Dubai introduces uncompromising experiences with its luxurious bespoke hospitality, eight exceptional culinary venues, and a fleet of Bentleys to chauffeur guests. The hotel also boasts the first Iridium Spa in Dubai, with an exclusive hammam room for men and women where you can program your own sounds from birdsongs to tropical rain. All the clocks are set to 12 o'clock so you can lose track of time.

Ahead of the opening Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group said, “It is the beginning of a new era on this historic site. The St. Regis name, renowned for its rich heritage and traditions, will undoubtedly complement the traditions and modernity of Dubai. We look forward to welcoming our first guests, and seeing the city buzzing with activity.”

Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East said, “We are proud to partner with Al Habtoor Group and to launch Starwood’s largest hospitality project in the region as we open the first of three hotels in this prestigious development.”

This is more than just another hotel opening. The St. Regis Dubai sits within the highly-anticipated Al Habtoor City, the Emirates first fully integrated urban resort on the banks of the Dubai Water Canal. Alongside the St. Regis are two other 5-star hotels soon to open; W Dubai - Al Habtoor City, and The Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City not only providing guests with uncompromising experiences but multiple culinary venues to choose from.

Guests don't have to venture outside The St. Regis Dubai to satisfy their taste buds. There are plenty of options right on their doorstep from the famous J&G Steakhouse to french cuisine at the Brasserie Quartier, or afternoon tea in Sidra. There is also an open-air cafe 'Le Patio'.

Too top it off Al Habtoor City will also provide a one-of-its kind entertainment theatre by Dragone, the world’s leading cultural creation company, offering the only permanent water-based theatrical production between Las Vegas and Macau. The Residence Collection includes three luxury towers.

The landmark Al Habtoor City development located on Sheikh Zayed Road is minutes away from main attractions such as Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, a 20-minute drive to Dubai International Airport and 40-minute drive to Al Maktoum International Airport.
