The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai paid a special tribute to Khalaf Al Habtoor, the Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group, for his contribution to society during the Holy month of Ramadan this year.

The tribute was delivered at an event, hosted by the Islamic Affairs Committee at the Al Habtoor head office on Al Wasl Road in Dubai on October 12, 2011.

It was attended by a number of senior members of the Al Habtoor Group, as well as high ranking executives from the department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities. Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, the Director-General of the department said: “This honour is in recognition of the efforts of government officials, private institutions and other members of society who have obeyed Allah’s calling in their role and devised programmes at both local and international level to benefit society.

“It also recognises the on-going efforts of the department in serving the community and highlights the importance of religious and charitable work.”

Dr Omar Khatib, the Assistant Director General of the Department of Islamic Affairs drew attention to the fact that Al Habtoor had sponsored a number of religious events during Ramadan 2011, including one which sponsored nine well-known Muslim readers at the recently opened Al Farooq Omar bin Khattab Mosque, Dubai.

They were named as Abu Bakr Shatri, Yasser Dossary, Saad Al-Ghamdi, Abdul Wali Alerkane, Mohammed Al Wasel, Qutaiba Azwaid, Mohamed Mubarak, Mohamed Hamza and Ismail Hassan.

The Director of Guidance and Counselling Mohammed Suhail Al Muhairi and a representative from the first office of the Director-General Khalifa al Sha’er and the coordinator of religious affairs Yasser Al Tahri also attended the event.
