26 | Al Shindagah | Issue 138 AHG NEWS Founding President of AUST meets Khalaf Al Habtoor Al Habtoor welcomes a delegation from The American University in Cairo The Al Habtoor Group Chairman welcomed a delegation from Lebanon’s American University of Science & Technology (AUST) at his office. The delegation was led by Dr Hiam Sakr, Founder and President of AUST. Dr Sakr was accompanied by Riad Sakr, Vice President, AUST and Dr Nabeel Haidar, Provost and Chief Academic Officer. Dr Sakr informed Chairman Al Habtoor about growth plans for the university in Lebanon and told him about plans to expand in the GCC region. She also discussed potential exchange programs between the universities, and expansion of AUST’s research departments. She said she is looking for investors to assist in further growth plans. Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor welcomed news that AUST is expanding in the UAE, “I wish you the best of luck with plans to set up a university campus here,” he said. “Dubai has a flourishing education sector. There are many tertiary facilities setting up here as a regional base. Dubai offers safety and security.” Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group welcomed a delegation from the American University in Cairo (AUC). The delegation, led by AUC President, Francis J. Ricciardone, included Dina Abulfotuh, Vice President for Advancement and Communications and Dina El Gazzar, Director of Development. Ricciardone, updated the Chairman on the progress of students who are part of a scholarship programme funded by Al Habtoor. He showed a video from one of the scholarship students thanking Al Habtoor for his support. The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Scholarship was launched in 2015 to provide 10 Egyptian students the opportunity to study at AUC. Al Habtoor said, “I am delighted to see that the scholarship is a resounding success. It is great to see how students are benefiting from the scholarship. I look forward to seeing how they further progress. Getting a degree from such a respected university is a privilege.
