22 | Al Shindagah | Issue 136 Al Habtoor Group Chairman, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor held talks with a Hilton delegation led by Christopher J Nassetta, President & CEO of Hilton Worldwide in April 2017. Also present was Simon Vincent, President (EMEA), Hilton Worldwide and Rudi S. K. Jagersbacher, President - Middle East & Africa; Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman & CEO; Maan Halabi, Managing Director; Sanjeev Agarwala, Chief Operating Officer – Hospitality and Investments and Sunderesh Iyer, Chief Operating Officer, Al Habtoor Investment. They discussed the Al Habtoor Group’s properties under the Hilton brand. The Al Habtoor Group owns five Hilton properties around the world including The Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand, Hilton Beirut Metropolitan Palace, Hilton London Wembley, and The President Abraham Lincoln, Springfield – A DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Khalaf Al Habtoor said he was very pleased with the performance of the hotels particularly The Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah, which is extremely well established since it opened in 2014. Earlier this year, the hotel won the highly-coveted Chairman’s Award at the Al Habtoor Group’s annual Employee Excellence Awards. The award is hand-picked by the Chairman himself. Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group met with HE Elena Kountoura, the Minister of Tourism from the Hellenic Republic at the Al Habtoor Group head office on Monday 24 April 2017. Also present at the meeting was Michail Angelopoulus, Counsellor, Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Tourism, and Angeliki Chondromatidou, Director of the office of the Minister of Tourism. Those present from the Al Habtoor Group were Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman & CEO, Hadi El Kadi, Group General Counsel and KP Rajan, Group Financial Advisor. They discussed the economic climate in Greece and the tourism sector in the country. They also talked about potential investment opportunities in Greece and large-scale projects currently underway in Khalaf Al Habtoor welcomes Hilton President & CEO Al Habtoor meets Greece’s Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura the country. Al Habtoor said the Group is always looking at sound investments abroad. “If a good opportunity presents itself we will conduct the necessary feasibility studies to ensure its success.” AHG NEWS
