LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

...closer to peace

It was with great pleasure that I received and read the wonderful book regarding the common characteristics of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

It comes as no surprise to me that Khalaf Al Habtoor would have supported the production and dissemination of such a message, one which, if only understood and appreciated more internationally, might bring the world closer to achieving peace, tolerance and prosperity.

Thank you for sharing the book with me. A number of colleagues have expressed in reading my copy. If you wish to disseminate it more broadly, I would be happy to distribute additional copies to them.

Caught my imagination

I came upon your magazine on my recent arrival in the UAE.

I have noted with interest the contents of the issues which I have seen, as I have found them useful to help orient me to my new home in the Emirates.

Passage to the edge of the world, in Iddue 18, wan an unusual story which really caught my imagination.

Does the writer of that piece know that outside of Riyadh there really is a place called "the edge of the world" by the local expats?

It is approached over a very flat plain, and all of a sudden there is a sudden huge drop to what must be a rift valley like in East Africa.

Very insightful

I want to thank you for sending me a copy of The Final Mission by Dr. Mahmoud Al Deek and Vincent White. The book contains some very insightful and revealing knowledge which is not know of or thought of by most Americans. I have circulated the book to several government and business leaders.

Thank You

Thank you for sending me The Final Mission, which I understood was developed through the initiative and support fo Mr. Khalaf Al Habtoor. I learned from it several points that I had not known.

Mr. Khalaf is to be commended for supporting a publication that seeks to bring Muslims, Christiand and Jews closer together. The world would be more peaceful if this fact was fully appreciated.

...erasing false images

Thank you for the splendid book The Final Mission and the latest issue of Al Shindagah. Both are beautifully printed, impressive in every way. I am working with my son in preparing paid television advertising to help erase false images of Islam in the United States. The Final Mission will be very helpful in that regard.

...courageous

The Final Mission is an important work which deserves the attention of all who believe that there should be harmony between the world's three great religions, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

From its opening premise, "this book is addressed to the believers of God who will follow the monotheistic tradition established by the Prophet Abraham, which is a diverse community," the volume proceeds with authrity and well-edited brevity to explain and support its thesis.

The foreword is followed immediately in the first chapter with a carefully crafted explanation of the basis for the authors' beliefs that we all belong to a unified community of believers in a Deity.

In a time still plagued by disharmony, this is also a courageous publication to emanate from an Arab land. Contained within its pages are wisdom and scholarship which is all too rarely found on the subject of religion either in the Arab or Western world.
