Al Habtoor held discussions with His Excellency Osama Naffa, the new Hungarian Ambassador to the UAE on 3 March, 2016. HE Naffa informed the Chairman that the Hungarian government would like to honour him with a medal at a National Day event in August in the capital Budapest. Al Habtoor is the largest UAE investor in Hungary, ahead of Emirates airline and HE Majid Ghurair.
“I would be honoured to accept the acknowledgment from the Hungarian government,” he said. “Hungary is a beautiful country with so much to offer, and incredibly welcoming people.”
They also discussed the positive business and investment climate in the UAE. “There is no better country to invest in than the UAE,” Al Habtoor said. “We welcome investors here with open arms, and give strong incentives to attract quality people here.” Al Habtoor owns two five-star hotels in Hungary; The InterContinental Hotel Budapest and The Ritz-Carlton Budapest.
