HLG highlights solid safety record for 2010

Al Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has continued its focus on safety with many projects hitting key safety milestones at the end of 2010

HLG Group Manager QHSE & Training Tom McGuire, said the Group had a constant focus on improving safety and that it continually aimed to improve safety statistics.

“The Group worked an incredible 186 million man-hours across the business in 2010, and a number of our projects have achieved significant safety milestones, which is a fantastic result,” he said.

“HLG has worked hard to reduce the lost time due to injury (LTI) hours across the Group and we are pleased to report a number of achievements on key projects.”

Key safety milestones were reached on the following sites:

 

  • Zayed University, Abu Dhabi reaching 20 million man-hours LTI-free
  • Al Shaqab, Qatar reaching 15 million man-hours LTI-free
  • Doha City Centre Phase 3, Qatar reaching 8.6 million man-hours LTI-free
  • TDIC Construction Village, Abu Dhabi was completed at 6.5 million man-hours and 1,000 days LTI-free
  • Al Bustan Complex, Abu Dhabi reaching 5 million man-hours LTI-free
  • Dubai Pearl, Dubai reaching 2.7 million man-hours LTI-free
  • Iris Bay, Dubai reaching 2.4 million man-hours and one full year LTI-free

“HLG has a strong emphasis on practicing and promoting safety initiatives across all project sites and we aim to continue to build on these programmes throughout the coming year,” Mr McGuire said.
