Dhows and sunsets; horses and falcons; dates and Eastern tea-pots. Views of old Dubai, traditional Arabic architecture and modern-day skyscrapers. Lady Diana, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Khalaf Al Habtoor; images from Palestine and Jordan and Lebanon and of course – the iconic Burj Dubai in all its splendid glory.

These are just some of the many images that can be seen when looking back at the covers of previous issues of Al Shindagah. Although a couple are missing, the majority of the previous 100 issues have been archived and we’ve reproduced them on teh following pages. The result is more like a snapshot of the Dubai’s culture and history and an insight into life in the Middle East, than a typical corporate magazine.

It is however Al Shindagah’s unique approach which has marked it ou. In 18 years of publication, the bimonthly magazine has chronicled in tandem both the development of the city and that of the Al Habtoor Group, which in many ways are inextricably linked.
