A NEW DAY
THE THEATRE: The Coliseum, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Franco Dragone created the live show “A New Day” for Canadian singer Céline Dion. It was watched by three million people in Las Vegas between March 2003 and December 2007. The venue was built specifically for the show. A New Day was a fusion of song, performance art and state of the art technology.
LE RÊVE
THE THEATRE: Wyn Theatre, Las Vegas
French for “The Dream,” Le Rêve was created for the Wynn hotel complex in Las Vegas. The show debuted in May 2005 combining water, fire, swimming, acrobatics and spectacular effects. After Mystère au Treasure Island and O au Bellagio, Le Rêve was Franco Dragone’s third production in collaboration with Steve Wynn. The show took place in a one million-gallon tank, featuring diving and feats of strength with state of the art special effects.
THE HOUSE OF DANCING WATER
LOCATION: Macau, China
THE THEATRE: The stage pool holds 3.7 million gallons of water. That’s equivalent to five Olympicsized pools. The show is staged in the purpose-built Dancing Water Theater which features approximately 2,000 seats and is designed by world renowned Sandi Pei of Pei Partnership The story begins in the coast of Coloane. A fisherman is travelling in his boat when suddenly there is a mysterious energy from the water that creates a terrible whirlpool – and grabs the fisherman and pulls him into a place and time of legends. The fisherman doesn’t realize what is happening. He observes. He is lost and intrigued. A storm brings a survivor from a shipwreck to the magical kingdom. The young, brave stranger encounters and falls in love with a beautiful princess who was thrown into a cage by her evil stepmother – the Dark Queen. Without hesitating, the fisherman decides to help the stranger fight against the Dark Queen and help rescue the princess.
